From the recording Fly Free

Lyrics

I stared at the flakes as they started to fall
each one was a tone
a single note of a chord

It didn't make sense to me
I wasn't sure where to go
I slumped in the chair
On the porch
In the slow falling snow

This music appeared when i was barely alive
It threw me a lifeline
Maybe I would survive

It landed hard at my feet
A glowing hot 45
I picked it up with my glove
Would my love be revived

It went up in flames As I dropped in the needle
It searched for the grooves
Strained to pull out a feeling

The singing had started And then it just stopped
It melted the table
But ignited my heart

The notes hung in the air
Faded as they appeared
I reached for each one
They were no longer there

Will it make sense to me
Where will I go
I sat up in the chair
On the porch
In the slow falling snow

How can I understand what I can't even touch
I want to hold what I hear
Is that asking too much

The record was burning It dripped on the floor
The music was cinders
But my faith was restored

The singing had started And then it just stopped
It melted the table
But ignited my heart

The notes hung in the air
Faded as they appeared
I reached for each one
They were no longer there

The record was burning It dripped on the floor
The music was cinders
But my faith was restored

The music was cinders
But my faith was restored

It finally makes sense
So I plan where to go
I get up from the chair
Walk off the porch
Into the new fallen snow
